Wisdom Wednesday | Ch. 12

I like to think of myself as an empathetic person. I feel for others, I try to put myself in their shoes and see what their life might be like. But I sometimes find it hard to sympathize or empathize with someone who complains about a situation that they have complete control over. If you don’t enjoy your life or love where you are… MOVE. Not as in move to a new house or new state, although that could be what some may need. I’m saying move, as in change your circumstances, view your life from a new perspective, experience something new. We aren’t prisoners in this world, we have control over what we do, where we go and who we are! We have control over who we surround ourselves with. If you are stuck in a life you don’t love… it’s because you are choosing to stay stuck. I get it, sometimes it feels like we’re living the same day over and over and we can’t quite figure out where to go from here. I’ve been there, many times. Sometimes staying still is good, it’s what we need, but sometimes staying still feels like we’re moving backwards. Progress means starting. Progress means moving. If you don’t love your “story”… CHANGE it! Start looking for a new job that gives your life purpose, start surrounding yourself with friends who are encouraging and life affirming people, start writing that book you’ve always wanted to write, start learning that instrument you’ve dreamt of playing. Take a walk, explore, meet new people. Life is BEAUTIFUL. Life is OURS! If you don’t like where you are… LEAVE! Find a new place… CREATE a new story. We are NOT helpless to the life that we’re in! We are in control, we just have to stop thinking about our choices and simply CHOOSE! :)

And for those of you who are like me, we give our control to Someone who actually knows what He’s doing. Someone who has better plans for us than we do for ourselves. Someone who wants what’s best for us, when we don’t even know what that is. And giving control to Him, makes all the difference in how we view this life! :)
