let's be friends!
I'm a photographer and educator based in Scottsdale, Arizona! Giving joyful people laughter filled and stress free photos and helping photographers turn their dream to grow their business into a plan that actually works!
For those who are just joining in on the natural beauty project blog posts, I’m going to be sharing the same words from my previous blog posts so you can catch up! ;)
Welcome back to the Natural Beauty Project: From the Inside Out! I am BEYOND excited to share photos of absolutely BEAUTIFUL girls from the inside out! These girls are choosing to embrace their natural beauty and find their confidence in WHO they are! I’m so thankful to have so many BRAVE girls who wanted to be a part of this project of mine! :)
One of my favorite things about taking these photos was the fact that I saw each and every girl for who they are. I honestly look at every single photo that I took and think to myself how BEAUTIFUL these girls are! Because you will find what you look for. Look for the beauty in these girls, in yourself, in your neighbor… in LIFE and you will find it! :) And if you look at these photos and the photos of the rest of the girls and look for their flaws instead of their beauty… then I feel sorry for you. But I still want you to know that you are beautiful! And I hope that someday you choose to not focus on your flaws and the flaws of others, but to embrace them, knowing that YOU ARE ENOUGH exactly the way that you are! :)
With each blog post and set of photos, I’ll also be sharing some words from the girls with their NATURAL beauty photos! These girls are makeup free with their natural hair, unless stated otherwise! :) Some had long answers for my questions and some had answers with just a few words. And it’s all okay, because there is no right way to do this, there is no right way to be vulnerable. There is only your way! :) *The only reoccurring thing that most likely is not natural in most of the girls you will be seeing is an unnatural hair color. But the way the hair dries, that is natural unless sated otherwise! :)

Q: Full name?
A: Hannah Jane Pool
Q: When do you feel most beautiful?
A: This might be weird haha… at the end of the day when I’m in my pajamas, face washed and spending time with my husband before we go to bed.
Q: Describe what a beautiful act is to you?
A: Someone putting another person’s need above their own.
Q: Tell me about a beautiful act you’ve witnessed?
A: My brother giving the shoes off his feet to a boy who had none.
Q: What is your favorite thing about yourself?
A: I am loyal and find it easy to forgive others. I love hard and always try to see the best in people.
Q: What is the best compliment you’ve ever received?
A: A dear friend once told me that I have never made her feel judged or shamed about any of the decisions she has made in her life while still pointing her to truth.
Q: Full name?
A: Charity Elyse Thickey
Q: What is beauty to you?
A: Beauty is laugh lines on an aged face. Puppies and kittens. The love and support that can be found in people around us (someone helping an older woman/gentleman across the street, buying someones groceries because they may be short, or helping clean up a room full of messy toys and dishes). I find beauty in laughing with someone you love while you look in to their eyes, sunsets, and butterflies. I know a lot of this comes off as cheesy but it’s what truly makes my heart happy.
Q: When did you start truly loving yourself?
A: This last two years to be honest. My engagement ended abruptly when I discovered some things that I just couldn’t support. It devastated me. I loved that man. But I was no longer in love with him, just the idea. It took me a long time to realize that. When our engagement ended I had also just started to put on a ton of weight and was really struggling with myself and my self worth. I saw several specialists and discovered that I have PCOS and over this year I have worked hard to work with my illness if you will. I also spent time reflecting on me and spending time with me. In the process of doing both of these things I found the best sides of me. It helped me see how beautiful I am and how wonderful our bodies are. Even though we are rarely satisfied with them.. they are ALL different. Each and everyone of them. They are all beautiful!
Q: What is something that the world might see as a flaw on you, but you find it beautiful?
A: My height. I’m short and I find that to be just fine. I am a perfect size for me.
Q: What inspired you to start truly loving yourself?
A: Allowing myself to truly see the beauty inside of me and focussing on stating positive affirmations each day. This helped instead of looking in the mirror and automatically going to something negative. I would look and find something nice to say about myself. With repetition I slowly started to believe it and now I KNOW it.
Q: Full name?
A: Suzy Goodrick
Q: What makes you beautiful?
A: I find beauty in being myself, no matter what the world tells me. No matter the expectations for my weight, my hair color, my style, or whatever, I have the opportunity to be myself, and that feels beautiful.
Q: Where do you find your confidence?
A: I find confidence in who I’m becoming as a woman, wife, friend, and eventually a mother. I love finding new passions and hobbies and how those create my personality. My confidence comes from inside, knowing I can truly do anything I set my mind to.
Q: What is your favorite thing about yourself?
A: I am an introvert, and for many years I thought this was a negative thing. But in trying to be more extroverted, loud, and outgoing, I have found that to be quite exhausting. I am an introvert, and I love this part of me. It allows my husband and I to balance one another (in his extreme extrovert-ness.) It allows me to be independent and goal oriented and focus on my small business in optimal ways that perhaps other’s would struggle with. I have come to enjoy, appreciate, and LOVE this part of who I am.
Q: What is something that the world might see as a flaw on you, but you find it beautiful?
A: I have worn glasses since I was 10 and it’s such an important part of who I am. I’m sure there are people who view this as a flaw but I love this part of me. I don’t feel like my self when I’m not wearing them, and I love the extra character is brings to my style.
I'd love to hear from you!
